Essential by Lacoste Fragrances is a Woody Aromatic fragrance for men. Essential was launched in 2005. The nose behind this fragrance is Laurent Bruyere. Lacoste Essential is pretty nice. It’s light, green, and fresh, certainly. It has faint notes of rose and melon along with a general green spicy herbal background. The opening is citrus and herbal. The citrus exudes freshness and the tomato leaf and cassia give it a “bite”. That’s nice for an out-of-the-shower feeling that isn’t too pretentious, just right.
As it dries down the rose and pepper are just passing hints, but the change is nice. The freshness and greenness persists throughout and even at the end where the patchouli pushes thru with the sandalwood. You will like the finish because it doesn’t go sweet or powdery like so many of this class of fragrance. All of that leads to a really interesting day-wear freshie with the only drawback being performance. Super fresh, creamy citrus and florals with that tomato leaf giving an unexpected tangy green edge to the fragrance that just works. If you are looking for a toned down unique casual scent then you could blind pick this beauty from Lacoste.
